Village Thread will be accepting orders through May 9th, and then will take a few months hiatus. (We will come back again, we promise!)

Village Thread Story

"We" is a bit of a stretch. Village Thread is the passion and creation of Staci from Massachusetts. She is a mother of four very small and rascally children, and she insists on "we" because creating this store would be impossible without her tolerant and supportive husband. Village Thread was born of a desire for to connect our Ethiopian son with his birth heritage and give back to his country. We, as so many families from mixed heritages, want to instill in all our children a love and pride for these roots. An African saying has permeated the very definition of parenting in today's families: It takes a village... We have found this is true on so many levels. Particularly in families where parents come from different cultures, or children are adopted from other counties and cultures, the whole world becomes smaller, indeed it becomes one large, interconnected village. Our son's adoption does not erase his past, his ancestry, or his first family. We hope the clothing and products we offer can fill just a little bit that hunger we all have to connect to Ethiopia and show a love for his heritage. A portion of the proceeds of Village Threads sales benefit two wonderful charities doing important work in Ethiopia. Mudula Water, and Ethiopian Orphan Relief. We look forward to partnering with more charities and organizations in the future. Just think...the more you buy, the more we give!
